Kendrapada: Two men were killed when an iron-laden truck collided with a stationary one in the prohibited area of Paradip port in Jagatsinghpur district on Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as truck drivers Ratnakar Swain (28) of Astaranga village and Chandan Jena (27) of Sandhakuda village, police said. Both the victims were repairing their truck in the port when it was hit. Both died on the spot. Soon after the incident, truck drivers stopped work and blocked all four gates of the port for five hours on Sunday. “Their protest was called off after port officials agreed to pay Rs 10 lakh each to the family members of the deceased,” the inspector in-charge of Paradip police station, Kabuli Barik, said.
