2 killed as motorcycle collides with mini truck in Tamil Nadu | Chennai News – The Times of India

COIMBATORE: Two persons working in a private firm died on the spot after a speeding motorcycle they were travelling on collided head-on with a mini truck coming from the opposite direction on Annur–Coimbatore Road near Kurukampalayam Pirivu late on Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as J Gnanasekaran, 25, a native of Kuppanatham in Tiruvannamalai district, and M Marisamy, 36, from Kavandampatti in Madurai district. Police said they were working in a copper wire manufacturing company at Kattampatti village near Kovilpalayam in Coimbatore district. They were staying in a rental room at Ganeshapuram near Annur.
After completing their work on Saturday night, the duo was heading towards their room on a motorcycle.
Gnanasekaran was riding the bike, and Marisamy was travelling as a pillion rider. When they were travelling on Annur–Coimbatore Road, the bike rider Gnanasekaran attempted to overtake a bus and collided with a mini truck coming from the opposite direction. The bike was mangled completely, and the duo sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot.
Other motorists alerted Annur police, who rushed to the spot and sent the dead bodies to the Mettupalayam govt hospital for postmortem. The police registered a case against the mini truck driver. After the postmortem, the two dead bodies were handed over to the family members on Sunday. Further investigation is on.
