Berhampur: Two persons, including a woman, were killed and 10 others were injured when a pick-up van overturned following a tyre burst at Kaliaghoda village on the Sorada-Bhanjanagar road in Ganjam district on Tuesday.Police identified the deceased as Chandrama Gouda (35) from Kesarapalli in Sorada and Badal Gouda (16) from Baghalingi village.The accident occurred when the vehicle, carrying around 20 passengers, lost control after one of its front tyres burst apparently due to extreme heat.The passengers, comprising family members and relatives from Baghalingi village, were en route to Bada Borasingi to attend a religious ceremony.The injured were immediately rushed to the sub-divisional hospital in Bhanjanagar. Four persons with serious injuries were later transferred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, while five others are receiving treatment at Bhanjanagar.Police said the driver fled the scene following the accident. The vehicle has been seized, and an investigation is underway.
