2 bike thieves arrested, 42 stolen two-wheelers recovered | Bhubaneswar News

Jharsuguda: Police on Saturday arrested two persons involved in a series of motorbike thefts across multiple police station jurisdictions in western Odisha. Police identified the accused as Saanat Rohidas (52) alias Rusu of Purnabasti, Mahadevnagar in Jharsuguda and Ananta Luhura (35) alias Dharam of Telendihi, Sundargarh district.Police nabbed the accused on Friday while they were moving suspiciously with astolen motorcycle near Jhadheswar temple in Jharsuguda. The vehicle was traced back to complainant Priyanshu Tiwari, who had reported the theft on April 27.Following their interrogation, the duo confessed to stealing motorcycles from various locations, including Jharsuguda, Jharsuguda Sadar, airport, Laikera, Badmal, Brajarajnagar, Belpahar under Jharsuguda district, Bhasma under Sundargarh district, and Thelkoloi police station limits under Sambalpur district. They kept the stolen two-wheelers in an abandoned house in a jungle near Purna village in Jharsuguda from where they planned to smuggle them outside the state for resale.A total of 42 stolen motorcycles have been recovered so far. Police are currently verifying the involvement of the accused in at least 28 registered cases.
