MUMBAI: Commuters on Western Railway’s suburban network will face significant disruptions this weekend due to a 35-hour special traffic and power block between Borivali and Kandivali for essential bridge work. The block has been scheduled for the re-girdering of Bridge Number 61, a crucial part of the suburban railway route.
The traffic and power block will begin at 1 PM on Saturday, April 26, and continue until midnight on Sunday, April 27. During this period, a total of 163 local train services will be affected. Of these, 73 services will be cancelled from Saturday afternoon, and 90 services will remain suspended throughout Sunday. The cancellation of these services is expected to significantly impact the daily commute for thousands of passengers travelling between Borivali, Kandivali, and other nearby areas.

In addition to the local train disruptions, several mail and express trains will also be partially cancelled or rerouted during the block period. Trains such as the Ahmedabad–Borivali–Ahmedabad and Borivali–Nandurbar–Borivali express trains will be either fully or partially cancelled over the weekend. Western Railway officials have advised passengers to check train schedules and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
The block will affect key lines, including the 5th line, car shed line, and the Kandivali yard line. Some local trains will continue to run but are expected to be delayed. To mitigate the impact on commuters, short-distance services will be curtailed, and alternative slow and fast services will be available between Virar and Dahanu Road.
