Ara: A 14-year-old boy Shubham Kumar Pal, resident of Vishnu Nagar locality under Nawada police station of Ara, late on Sunday evening was injured by gunshot.
Shubham, orginally a native of Pinjroi village under Sandesh police station of Bhojpur district, has made contradictory statements about how he was shot in his left thigh. He has been admitted to Sadar Hospital, Ara, for treatment.
Bhojpur police have found his statements contradictory and suspicious.
SHO, Nawada police station, Vipin Bihari, said: “The case is suspicious. The injured boy on record has told the doctors at the Sadar hospital Ara that he accidentally shot himself. However, before the mediapersons and the police he made a U-turn and claimed that some unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreants shot at him near the Bazaar Samiti gate.”
When several teams of police investigated the case and asked the local people near the Bazaar Samiti gate whether any such incident had occurred there, they claimed to be totally unaware. “I myself was on patrolling duty in that area, but didn’t come across any such incident,” he said.
The SHO added, “Perhaps due to fear of a case under Arms Act getting registered against him, the boy changed his statement. Although no case has been registered yet. Investigation is going on to ascertain the facts.”
