13 trucks detained for ‘illegal’ iron ore transport | Bhubaneswar News

Keonjhar: A joint raid by the mining and police personnel at an OMDC mine in Keonjahr district’s Roida led to the detention of 13 trucks loaded with iron ore over suspected illegal transportation.
Deputy director of mines (Joda), Dinesh Agarwala, said, “Preliminary investigation suggests the iron ore was transported with valid permits, but they were loaded from unauthorised stockpiles. A detailed inquiry is underway to verify the legitimacy of the transportation.”
Sources said mineral extraction at the Roida mine has been suspended for several years, with the mining department only allowing the transport of previously stored iron ore. Allegations have surfaced that some staff members may have facilitated illegal transportation from unauthorised sources.
Officials are now measuring and verifying stockpiles to identify any discrepancy. Residents have demanded a comprehensive investigation into stock management and transportation records. OMDC officials were unavailable for comment.
