11-year-old girl physically assaulted at Bengaluru's madrassa

NEW DELHI: A man physically assaulted an 11-year-old girl at a madrassa, as confirmed by police on Thursday. The assault, which took place on February 16 in Hegde Nagar, was recorded by the madrassa’s CCTV cameras.
According to a complaint filed on Wednesday by the girl’s mother, her daughter had been enrolled in the 5th class at the madrassaand its hostel in July 2024. The accused, Mohammad Hasan, who is the son of the hostel supervisor, was known to visit the premises regularly.
On February 16 at 4.30pm, Hasan summoned the girl to the office where he allegedly struck her with his hands and kicked her. The assault was reportedly triggered by the girl spilling rice and engaging in disputes with other hostel residents during playtime.
The Kothanur police have filed charges under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act for child cruelty and section 115 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for voluntarily causing hurt. A senior police officer confirmed the accused’s arrest.
15-year-old girl assaulted in Konaseema; accused arrested under Pocso act
In a similar incident, a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a person in a village under Mummidivaram mandal in Konaseema district. Police booked a case under the Pocso Act.
According to Mummidivaram SI Jola Sagar, the girl, a class 8 student, was going to school when the accused told her he would drop her at school on his bike. As he was from the same village and known to her family, she did not object. However, the accused took her to an abandoned house near her school and sexually assaulted her.
Seeing her absent from the school, the principal informed her parents. The girl later reached home and narrated everything to her parents, who lodged a complaint with the police. The twice-married accused, whose second wife lives in Kuwait, was taken into custody.
