1 dead, another injured in Sundargarh accident | Bhubaneswar News

Rourkela: A 25-year-old man died and another was critically injured when an earth-mover collided with their motorcycle near Gadiajor Chowk in Sundargarh district on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Bipin Munda and the injured as Narayan Singh (35), both residents of Amasdegi village. The accident took place around 10:30am under Dharuadih police station limits.
According to police sources, the incident took place when the earth-mover, after refuelling at a nearby petrol pump, collided with the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that Munda died on the spot, while Singh was rushed to Sundargarh district headquarters hospital with critical injuries.
The earth-mover’s driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning the vehicle at the spot. “We have seized both vehicles and are conducting a search operation to apprehend the absconding driver,” said B K Nayak, sub-inspector of Dharuadih police station.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
